Holly’s “Happily Ever After” Sign

Oh yeah…I think this sign turned out pretty cute…so why not add a different vinyl lettering quote for any occasion or reason!

• 1 wood board. I used a 1″ x 6″ pine board cut to 3′ long.
• Design Diva vinyl lettering #1204
• DecoArt American Acrylic, white
• DecoArt Designer Series Home Decor Acrylic, Black
• Rockler Foam brushes
• DecoArt Stencil Paint, Slate Grey
• Cutting Edge Stencil Brush Set
• Cutting Edge Wall Art Stencil, Birds on a Branch
• Dremel Multi-Max
• Rockler Deft Wood Finish Semi-Gloss
• DISChangers
• Ribbon (optional)

1. I did not sand or prep my board in any way (other than cutting) because I knew my final look was to be distressed, and any imperfections would just add to the character.
2. Paint board white, let dry.
3. Paint board black, let dry.
4. This part is only a little tricky…I thought the board was flat and needed some interest, so I grabbed my cutting edge stencil and placed is randomly here and there – whatever looked good to my eye – and stenciled parts of the stencil onto the board.
5. Let dry completely.
6. Distress board using the Dremel Multi-Max – I hit the edges all around “hard” and then sands the entire surface, going over certain areas two and three times for depth and texture.
7. Brush/Wipe board off to get dust off.
8. Spray the entire board with the Deft Wood Finish and let dry.
9. Place the Vinyl Lettering into position.Once you have the desired position, remove the backing and place onto the board firmly pressing and then rubbing over it with a credit card (I actually used a plastic putty knife).
10. Apply two of the small DISChangers to the back of the board
11. Thread ribbon through both DISChangers to create a triangle effect for hanging. You can also just use the DISChangers with nails or any other assortment of details for hanging.
