I have been redoing my house….not for lack of something better to do…mostly cause I’m crazy! I recently got a tv stand (at the thrift store) and my t.v. used to sit on one of my side tables…so now that it is free…I thought I had better fancy it up….
the before shot….
really strong and sturdy! There is also a smaller side table not pictured that will aslo get a facelift.
I started by sanding it down..I have an electric sander…. (and about one leg in…I thought..this blows…I have very little patience! I can’t believe the people who do this for a living!)
but I used this for the hard to reach corners and curves…
(it’s a sanding bug from rockler)
I then grabbed my mythic primer….and did the legs first.
this mythic was awesome!!!! It doesn’t stink up the house…usually my husband walks in and goes, “oh no..what have you been doing all day!” with this paint..he couldn’t smell a thing!
after my two coats of primer dried..I added some white paint (semi-gloss) using my purdy brush…
it is probably the nicest brush I have every owned…and hard a hard time using it…but it made the paint go on so smooth! it was beautiful!
see how pretty~!
I then took my ralph lauren tinted glaze and tinted the crap out of it…paint it on and whip it off.
(I learned this HERE if you want to know exact details on how to glaze)
after it was all dried up….
I took my red stencil paint from decoart
(it’s thick and creamy..perfect for stencils!)
and my awesome zinnia stencil from cutting edge stencils
(I have two different sizes)
I followed the instructions..and taped it down with blue painters tape
and squeezed some out and rolled it on.
when you peel it off….it’s sooooo exciting!
for the smaller side table I painted the inside red
from americana
and after it dried I used the same technique as the bigger one.
and just rolled it on!
The smaller one had a drawer….so I added a beautiful knob from rockler
then for the inside of the drawer I used some spray adhesive from Krylon
just sprayed the inside…put my fabric in and smoothed it out and trimmed the excess…
(this was a fat quarter from joanns….)
then I took all my pieces outside (on the only warm day we have had!) (and then it snowed about 40 minutes after I brought them inside!!!)
and sprayed it with my finish from rockler
and for the finale shots:
and yes. I could have probably put up a better quote than this one….
and the larger table:
I was actually going to cut about 6 inches off the legs (and when I say I ….I mean I was going to ask my dad to do it) but my husband likes it tall….so he can use it as a tv tray…seeing how the one tv tray we have currently holds up my sewing machine….
I know it’s all nice and stage….but in reality…it looks more like this:
tomorrow I’m showing you how I made this awesome lamp on my blog
come by and say hi

The Ikea catalogues are the perfect addition to the tables.
Great job on the tables, i love the idea of gluing the drawer liner down so it doesn’t move every time you go in there.
Bee happy x
I love these tables so much! Great choice of color, and I like that they compliment each other, but aren’t 100% matching. Great touch. Also…I love the quote. Perfection!
Way to rock the tables, Kim.
Wow! Love how it turned out! Love the pop of color it adds to the room. And I LOVE that lamp. Heading to your site to check it out!!
I love the red and white together. I have a veggie cart that needs a facelift, if only it would warm up so I could open the windows and paint away.
