Red Remix with Rockler by Cassie

by Cassie on December 20, 2011

You may remember this dresser I painted back in July. I loved its classic look, and the antiqued finish. I think I may have been alone though because it didn’t sell.

I decided to repaint it, and also to change the hardware. I removed all of the existing hardware and filled the holes with Wunderfil Wood Filler from Rockler.

Wunderfil Wood Filler

I allowed it to dry, sanded it down, and then gave another coat of filler.  I allowed that to dry (and this dries nice and quickly compared to other fillers!), sanded the entire piece, and decided to go with….. wait for it…. red again!  This time I went with Red Pepper Milk Paint by General Finishes available at Rockler and I loved its more vibrant color!
Also, as a complete side note… my mom asked a few weeks ago if I would recommend this brand of milk paint or another type of very popular paint right now, and I said hands down this milk paint as I preferred its finish and texture. She took my advice and sang her praises about this paint, too. Just wanted to throw that in there. :) Thanks, Mom!  Anyhow, here is what the dresser looks like now…. with the awesome bright paint!  And you cannot even see where the holes once existed thanks to the Wunderfil!

I am sharing this piece today at my furniture project link party, Piece of Work Wednesday. I would love for you to come link up your furniture projects! Just click on the button!

That must be great filler~you can’t even see a hint of holes! The red is really nice, and those black glass knobs look really good. I predict a fast sale. :)

I need some of that Wunderfil! That red is gorgeous. I am working up the nerve to paint somehting red…I am deciding between 2 pieces…I just need to do it…based on how gorgeous your piece looks I know I will love it (and I bet I end up with 2 red pieces!)
