Painted Canvas Corp Table Runner

by Cassie on February 15, 2012

This is a project I actually did back in early December and gave to my mother for Christmas.  It was pretty easy.  All I needed was some red paint, textile medium, painters tape, a stencil and a premade canvas runner from Canvas Corp.  I began by designing the runner.  I knew I wanted the ends to have stripes, so I measured and laid painters tape on my runner to create stripes.

After I painted the stripes, I selected a fleur de lis stencil to add some detail. I played around with the stencil placement and finally decided to add to the ends above the stripes.

Once the paint was entirely dried, I ran a hot iron over to set the paint.  And voila, here it is!  My mom loved it and it helped me with my goal of giving all handmade gifts!

LOVE it. The canvas fabric gives it a cool grain-sack vibe. Awesome!

So pretty! And a great gift idea! I made one about a year ago. I still use it and the paint held up really well.

Wh a nice gift! I agree with Ali….it does have a grain sack look to it. Beautiful!

I haven’t used stencils on fabric in a while. I tend to use them more on walls and art etc. This has given me renewed ideas of painting fabric. I’m going to get my daughter and make some of these for presents. They’re great.

Very cool! I LOVE the red…I’m striving for hand made gifts this year, too…didn’t quite make it last year, but if I start a little earlier…like July instead of November, maybe I’ll make it!
