Santa Claus is Coming to Town

by diy on December 5, 2012

My Mom manages a shop on the boardwalk and they were going to throw away a piece that had faded in the sun. )You can see the brown color that it used to be, if you look at the corners.)  She brought it to me to see if I wanted to use it for a project.

I sanded the board down with my Dewalt sander from Rockler. It quickly prepared the surface for painting.  I love that sander. (just sayin’)

I painted it with DecoArt Alizarin Crimson with 2 coats then went over it with DecoArt Sizzling Red Glamour Dust. I let it dry for several hours.
I then added the Santa Claus is Coming To Town vinyl.
I added a new piece of jute twine, from Canvas Corp, to the bottom of the board.

I added a couple of Dischangers to the back.  You just wet the glue to activate it for about 5 minutes, then apply and let dry over night.

Then I made some tags to hang from the bottom of the sign.

I used my hot glue gun for the tags.  It is on sale right now for $5.99. That is a great deal.

I am giving a tutorial over at Its So Very Cheri in the tags.  I love the linen paper from Canvas Corp, for the reindeer.

Now I can strategically place it so the kids are reminded that someone is watching and so is the elf on the shelf.

Head over for all of the details on the Rudolph tags I made.
I am also showing off a new wood ornament on Friday.
