We were looking for a desk at a second hand store–and we found one.
It was an amazing deal- really. We walked in and it was a “blue tag day”. It was our first time in this store. We looked at the desk and come to find out – the desk was a blue tag item so we got it for 25 cents- yes you read that right.
Here is a picture of the desk.
We decided to look around to see if there was anything else – that might be a really good deal–
As we were looking around we found it that they also had other colors that were 25% and 50% off so we walked out with 3 tables and some frames. We got the 3 tables for $21 total.
This is a temporary fix for the boys rooms.
Our little guy needed a night stand – so one of the tables was painted to go by his bed- a place to keep his water bottle at night. (I love the new hardware.)
(His bed needs to be sanded and painted black — another project – another day.)
Our big boys needed a table between their dressers to keep gaming equipment.
I used the same hardware on both tables.
I used General Finishes milk paint. Some came from Rockler and some came directly from General Finishes.
The hardware came from D Lawless.
The tables started off pretty ugly- I used Soy Gel to strip the tables. Then used Gorilla Wood Glue to glue down all the areas that were coming up.
Then it was time to sand, paint, and seal them with my favorite finish DEFT, THEN added the new hardware.
The third table went in our living room- I thought I had a before of this ugly guy– it looks pretty good all prettied up with paint, sealer and new hardware. I am going to take out the panel with the 1970s design and replace with a plain strip of wood but I wanted to get it in the house for now so we have a table between our 2 chairs.
I replaced the hardware on this table as well. I painted several layers- mixing together milk paint- I used a mixture of basil, and coastal blue, then added white and black to change the tones as I dry brushed on the layers.
It is a very heavy table with the marble table top.
I was going to use this drop pull but we didn’t have a screw the right length and I wanted that table in the house -TODAY.
Here it is.
A girlfriend dropped off two night stands that she no longer wanted so I have two more projects to work on.
